University District StreetFair

The University District StreetFair is the oldest and largest street Arts and Crafts Festival in the U.S.

Founded in 1969 as a response to anti-war protests and conflicts between merchants and students, Andy Shiga (Nisei, community leader, pacifist, business owner) together will all the volunteers of the University District Community first forwarded the University District StreetFair in 1970.

The University District StreetFair was originally meant to be a message of peace and attempt at a community collaborative and contribution between merchants, students, neighbors and most of all the Seattle community as a whole during the protests of the Vietnam War.

This has proudly grown into to the largest, oldest Arts Street Festival in the US with over 80K visitors recently.
