Bunka no Hi

November 2, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Free

Bunka no Hi (Japanese Culture Day) is a holiday in Japan celebrating Japanese culture. At the JCCCW, Bunka no Hi is a free-to-attend cultural festival dedicated to celebrating, commemorating, and educating the public about Japanese and Japanese American culture in the Seattle area.

The theme of this year’s Bunka no Hi festival will be “Finding New Beauty – Artful Mending”. Discover Japan’s unique approach of embracing imperfections and repairing various items in a visually appealing way through demonstrations of kintsugi by Jen Lo, sashiko by Shannon and Jason, and kogin-zashi by Satomi Toraya. Please look forward to presentations of other cultural arts as well, including sumo wrestling, the art of swords, tea ceremonies, and much more! Food vendors Tokara Confectionery and Kozmo Kitchen will have food available for purchase, while supplies last. Click here for Kozmo Kitchen pre=orders, available until 11:59 PM on November 1st. The Hosekibako Japanese Resale Shop located on-site will also be open during the event.
