Japanese Culture Featured in Olympia

An annual New Year’s cultural festival, “Oshogatsu in Olympia,” was hosted by the Olympia-Kato Sister City Association on Jan. 23 at the Olympia Center to be enjoyed by hundreds of visitors. Various Japanese cultural activities and demonstrations were featured including Okinawa Kenjin Kai Taiko and Chiyo Sanada’s calligraphy.

オリンピアで毎年恒例となるお正月イベントが1月23日にオリンピアセンターで開かれた。オリ ンピア―加東姉妹都市協会による新年行事で、沖縄県人会太鼓の演舞をはじめ、さまざまな日本 文化のアクティビティーやデモンストレーションが用意され、大勢の訪問者で賑わいを見せた。                                   (写真 = マイヤ・ゲスリング)
