Integrated Resorts: Economic Impact on Japan and Washington

On July 20th of this year, the Japanese government completed their legislative project to bring casinos to Japan, facing down political and public opposition. The Integrated Resorts Implementation Bill was voted into law by the upper house of parliament squeaking in ahead of the end of the Diet Session that concluded two days later. Our speaker, Professor Toru Mihara, was one of eight people on Abe’s IR committee and will speak to the economic impact and huge opportunities for Japan and U.S. businesses.
By contrast, the latest data on the influence of Japanese trade within Washington State will be the topic of Japan Matters in Washington State. The East West Center in Washington, D.C. has refreshed their data for Washington State. Our speaker, Dr. Satu Limaye, can also speak to Japan’s changing role with the U.S. and within Asia in addition to speaking to Japanese business locally.
