Program Offers JA Youth to Experience Japan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will sponsor a group of five Japanese American high school students to travel to Japan this summer.

The program, from June 24 to July 4, will give the Nikkei youth an opportunity to learn about and experience Japan and also to promote a mutual understanding and exchange b etwe en you nge r generations of Japanese and Japanese Americans. The program includes a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a tour of the Kansai area and a homestay experience with a Japanese family.

Applicants must hold American citizenship but not Japanese citizenships. Those who have multiracial backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. Residents in Washington, Montana and Northern Idaho can send applications to the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle by April 29.
