Seattle University and Minidoka Pilgrimage Planning Committee Day of Remembrance 2026

Join Seattle University and the Minidoka Pilgrimage Planning Committee for a Day of Remembrance event featuring taiko performances and the premiere screenings of three new Japanese American documentaries: Emiko Omori and Barbara Takei’s Defiant to the Last: Resistance at the Tule Lake Jail, Glenn Mitsui and Brandon Shimoda’s DUST, and a sneak peek of the MPPC’s To Heal, To Hold, and to Fight.

1:00 – 4:30 pm (Doors open at noon, taiko begins at 1:00, films screen at 2:00)

Seattle University Pigott Auditorium
901 12th Ave Seattle, WA 98122

Featuring:
– Community tabling and Minidoka Pilgrimage shop
– Hidaka Taiko, Inochi Taiko and Tobe Daiko
– Live premieres of three new documentary films and a panel with legendary documentary filmmaker Emiko Omori (Rabbit in the Moon), as well as community leaders Barbara Takei and Glenn Mitsui. Moderated by Erin Shigaki of the MPPC and Tsuru for Solidarity.
