Seeking Host Families for Japanese Students

Japanese High School students from Kagoshima Prefecture are looking for host families for four weeks to help them experience the Northwest summer life and build a new lifetime friendship.

The students, who are ages 15 to 17, will come from July 23 to Aug. 21 to attend classes at the Northwest School Summer Program in Seattle from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The North American Nippon Educational Services has been working the program for about 20 years.

Through the program, the host family will receive gifts from Japan, a $ 600 s tipend a nd m emories o f f un and bonding with students. The host families are requested to enjoy learning about Japanese culture, dine together in the evening, provide breakfast in the morning, spend time with students in family activities and entertain on weekends. Lunch will be provided during the school days.
