Ichiro Fujisaki, former Japanese ambassador to the United States, will visit Seattle to join some panel discussions next week to share a stimulating dialogue on regional and global Japan-related issues. According to the schedules, he will join at least three discussion sessions titled, “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” next Wednesday and Thursday.
The events will be led by the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan and will be open to the public.
Fujisaki will speak at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Washington and 5 – 7 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Washington on Oct. 26. He will also speak at 10 a.m. at Everett Community College on Oct. 27.
Fujisaki, who served as the Japanese Ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2012, lived in Seattle in the 1960s during his father’s appointment to the local consulate.
Fujisaki will be joined by teams of Japanese citizens from various backgrounds in finance, legal services, marketing and real estate brokerage. The topics they will discuss will include the issue on the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, technology in Japan and culture and economic policies.
