SUMMARY:Lunar New Year Exhibition and Art-Making
DESCRIPTION:Cascadia Art Museum is proud to present a special exhibition of works from its permanent collection by Northwest Asian artists in celebration of the Lunar New Year. \nSince opening in 2015\, Cascadia Art Museum has been the leading institution in Washington state to actively research\, collect and publish on the Northwest’s Asian diasporic artists. \nThis exhibition of works by such artists\, consisting of pieces from Cascadia’s collection\, includes Paul Horiuchi’s masterful collage titled “Early Frost”; George Tsutakawa’s watercolor “Summer of 1950” which was also included in our 2022 publication George Tsutakawa: Early Works on Paper; Kenjiro Nomura’s “Geese and Moon” wooden panel\, created when he was incarcerated at the Minidoka concentration camp during WWII; and Frank Okada’s untitled sumi-ink abstraction from the early 1960’s. The exhibition will be on display in the museum’s Learning Gallery from February 25th to March 8th\, 2026. \nOn Saturday\, February 28th\, from 11am – 5pm\, the museum will also be offering drop-in art making activities. Create festive citrus fruit decorations inspired by traditional Lunar New Year symbols of luck and prosperity\, fun for the whole family and free with purchase of admission.
