SUMMARY:Estate Planning\, Wealth\, and Tax Seminar
DESCRIPTION:As the tax landscape continues to evolve\, integrated planning between investment strategy\, tax management\, and estate planning has never been more important. \nIn this free seminar\, our expert panelists will explore how coordinating these three disciplines can help investors improve tax efficiency\, protect long-term wealth\, and position assets for a more effective generational transfer. These developments are particularly important for residents of Washington State\, where recent and proposed legislative changes are reshaping the tax environment. This evolving landscape highlights why a coordinated approach to wealth\, tax\, and estate planning is increasingly critical.\nThoughtful planning today can help investors navigate shifting tax policies\, preserve more of their wealth\, and ensure their financial strategies remain aligned with both current laws and future legislative changes. \nWe hope you’ll join us! This is a free community seminar/workshop offered as part of our Legacy Education Series. \nPlease register to attend: https://forms.gle/rzvkWkUAUVkCQoTcA

DESCRIPTION:Supporting Transitions\, Building Networks\, and Navigating the Future of AANHPI\, SWANA\, MENA\, and Mixed Race Theatre \nHosted by CAATA in partnership with Rutgers University\, Harvard Asian Arts Project\, and Stanford University \nCAATA Conversations: Pathways Forward is a gathering centered on supporting college students as they transition into the professional theatre field. This conversation brings together emerging artists and working professionals across the AANHPI\, SWANA\, MENA\, and Mixed Race theatre community to share insights\, experiences\, and practical strategies for navigating careers in the industry. \nTogether\, we will explore the realities of entering the professional landscape—from building sustainable networks to identifying opportunities\, challenges\, and pathways for growth. This is a space for students to engage directly with artists who have forged their own paths\, ask questions\, and gain guidance grounded in lived experience. \nThis conversation is not only about career entry. It is about access\, mentorship\, and community. We gather to exchange knowledge\, strengthen intergenerational connections\, and envision more equitable and supported futures for the next generation of theatre-makers.

SUMMARY:Origins: Our Thousand Days Film Screening and Director Q&A Presented by Cascade PBS
DESCRIPTION:The screening is the fourth season of Origins titled Our ‘Thousand Days’- info below. \nEVENT INFO:\nJoin Cascade PBS for a preview screening of Origins Season 4\, followed by a discussion with filmmaker Andrew Inaba and special guests. This new short-form docuseries explores the story of Japanese American imprisonment following the attack on Pearl Harbor\, told through the unique lens of Pacific Northwest communities. \nDate: March 12\, 2026\nTime: Doors @ 6:00 PM\, Program @ 7:00 PM\nVenue: SIFF Uptown\nTickets: Free and open to the public with RSVP – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/origins-our-thousand-days-tickets-1981873980426?aff=oddtdtcreator \nABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY:\nFollowing the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941\, Japanese American citizens and Japanese nationals in the Pacific Northwest were forcibly removed and imprisoned in concentration camps without trial or due process. Five episodes look back at two women who were children at the time of their imprisonment\, revealing a story of resilience against injustice that resonates today. \nABOUT THE FILMMAKER:\nAndrew Inaba’s roots in the Pacific Northwest begin with his grandmother\, who left Japan immediately following the war and settled near Seattle’s Nihonmachi. In a community shaped by wartime incarceration\, he absorbed the stories and came to understand the region’s role in this history. With Our Thousand Days\, Andrew gives voice to those who lived this history and carries it forward for another generation\, so that it may never happen again.

SUMMARY:David Neiwert Author Visit: The American Experience of Bellevue’s Japanese American Families
DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of Day of Remembrance 2026\, join us for a reading and discussion with David Neiwert\, journalist and author of the book Strawberry Days: How Internment Destroyed a Japanese American Community. \nDavid Neiwert’s Strawberry Days shares local knowledge about the creation and WWII-era eradication of Bellevue’s once-vibrant Japanese American community. With compelling storytelling\, firsthand interviews\, and analysis of previously suppressed documents\, Neiwert vividly presents the history of our Eastside community and the racist schemes that prevented families from returning or reclaiming their land after being wrongfully incarcerated by our government. Strawberry Days invites us to think about the kind of community we want to belong to\, and ways to help ensure it is a place where all of us are respected. \nDavid Neiwert is a veteran Northwest journalist who was news editor of the Bellevue Journal American in the 1990s; Strawberry Days began as a historical project for the JA. Since then\, Neiwert has gone on to work at MSNBC.com and as the Northwest correspondent for the Southern Poverty Law Center. He has also authored nine other books\, including his most recent\, The Age of Insurrection: The Radical Right’s Assault on American Democracy (2023). He lives in Friday Harbor. David will be joined in conversation by Alice Ito. \nAlice’s late father Toshio Ito was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was born on his parents’ farm and graduated from Bellevue High School before being removed and incarcerated along with all other community members of Japanese descent. Toshio spoke with David Neiwert about his experiences\, and warned that our government was likely to take similar actions against other community members.

SUMMARY:Seattle Women’s Chorus Centers Women’s Stories in Powerful Concert
DESCRIPTION:Seattle Women’s Chorus invites audiences to reflect\, remember\, and recommit through Legacy\, its new concert which elevates women’s stories across generations — with a powerful focus on environment\, family\, community\, and justice — featuring pieces that honor trailblazers\, lift up marginalized voices\, and celebrate the collective power of women’s experiences. \nA significant highlight of the program is “Say Her Name” by Alicia Lee\, a poignant musical memorial honoring women of color — particularly Black and trans women — whose lives were taken by violence. In a moment shaped by ongoing racial injustice\, anti-trans legislation\, and renewed national conversations about whose stories are valued and protected\, Legacy uses music to insist on visibility\, dignity\, and collective responsibility. \nAdditional highlights include Moira Smiley’s “We Are Timeless\,” a stirring tribute to individuality and human connection. Familiar favorites such as Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’\,” Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me\,” and a joyful mashup of “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” and “Love Train” round out the concert with hope and musical nostalgia. \nTickets are $29-$59\, available at the Seattle Women’s Chorus website: SeattleWomensChorus.org. \nLegacy: Seattle Women’s Chorus\nBenaroya Recital Hall\, Seattle: Saturday\, Feb. 28\, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.\nBenaroya Recital Hall\, Seattle: Sunday\, March 1\, 2026 at 2 p.m.* \n*Video on Demand — for individuals and groups — is available for purchase for this performance from March 11–22\, 2026.
