The Politics of Japan’s Military Power and East Asian Security

November 12, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join the World Affairs Council for a discussion with Sheila A. Smith, senior fellow for Japan studies at the Council on Foregin Relations, on the politics of Japan’s military power and East Asian security. Dr. Smith will discuss how a nuclear North Korea and an increasingly assertive China could make Japan rethink its constitutional commitment to renounce the use of offensive military force—and its reliance on U.S. security.
