The annual All-Kenjinkai/Nikkei Community’s Omochitsuki /Rice Cake Making event will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at JCCCW. As usual, the event will be open to the general public, so be sure to bring all your family and friends to come join in the fun.

* Due to the limited parking spaces available in the neighborhood, please consider taking public transportations or share rides to come to the venue on the Sunday event.

Volunteers Needed!

As usual, one day prior to the event, we will need volunteers to help with preparations and for setting up the venue on Saturday the 11th. The same goes for the day of the event, an hour before start (10:00 A.M. on Sunday the 12th). Lastly, we will also need volunteers to help steaming the rice, making mochi during the event, and also to help clean up afterward (about 3:00 P.M. on Sunday the 12th).

We would be grateful to any of you who are willing to bring/lend electronic mochitsuki (rice-cake making) machines for the event. If you could, please bring these appliances to the venue one day before the event (Saturday, January 11th).

** Please note: In the case of an overcrowded event, only the pre-registered volunteers will receive free access and unlimited time-in-attendance. Additionally, the packing of the finished product and use of leftovers will be limited to these pre-registered volunteers as well. So, please sign up!
